Sales inquiries are taken by phone or via a web-based form. I used both. The wait time for telephone support is nearly one hour and it took 72 hours for my questions to be answered by email. Webfusion’s representatives are helpful and polite, but answers are slow to arrive. Had I been in a hurry, I would have gone elsewhere.

Account sign-up takes place online and is a straight forward process. Once you’ve filled out an online order form and paid for your hosting plan, a welcome email is sent to your email address within an hour of payment. Smooth.

Billing

Webfusion accepts all major credit cards. I had no trouble with the billing department during my stay, but once I tried to opt out of my contract, the difficulty began. Despite repeatedly cancelling my hosting services by phone and postal mail, I was billed for four months after cancellation. When trying to resolve the situation, I learned the billing department doesn’t work weekends or evenings, which meant I was left to wait on-hold during busy weekdays, and often for 90 minutes at a time. I was able to finally dump my hosting plan five months later, but was never reimbursed for the five months of service I did not want or use. Troublesome.

Webfusion’s advertised price of $4.99/month is only available if paying several years in advance. Those wanting to pay monthly will be charged $6.99/month. Webfusion’s prices are about average for unlimited Linux and Windows shared web hosting.

Reliability

My Webfusion hosting serving performed quite reliably, with the exception of my email. Mail addressed to my Webfusion hosted domain would routinely bounce back to the sender and I had great trouble sending mail, as well. I informed Webfusion of the trouble on numerous occasions and, though it did improve here and there, it remained largely unreliable during my entire stay.

Webfusion answers sales questions by telephone and online help desk. Phone wait times are an hour or longer and help desk support can take as long as three days. On multiple occasions I was told that tier 2 (upper level) support was not available on weekends or after hours, which meant I often waited through weekends and evening hours without getting much in the way of help. Not impressed!
