Rackspace takes sales calls by telephone, email and live chat. I connected with Rackspace by live chat, a process that takes less than 30-seconds. Rackspace sales reps are very well versed in what they offer and extremely knowledgeable about the ins and outs of cloud hosting. I was impressed!

Setup

You can purchase an account with Rackspace from their website. Once you register for an account and place your order, a sales rep calls to confirm the order and verify credit card details. This extra step is a great way to protect consumers from credit card fraud and order problems, but does add an extra hour of time to setup.

Billing

Rackspace accepts all major credit cards. I had no trouble with my order or the billing department, and cancelling an account is just as simple.

Rackspace has an admirable reputation as being a rock solid hosting provider and they delivered.

Rackspace support is given via live chat or phone. Technical support with Rackspace was phenomenal. The engineers and techs were quick to answer questions, make suggestions, and make sure I was satisfied with service.

Uptime
|

|
I use a premium uptime monitor that showed Rackspace delivered near 100% uptime. I had a few bursts of downtime during the beginning of my stay that were the result of nodes not being available. As it turned out, this is a common cloud hosting problem with databases. The techs were able to sort it out for me and advise action on how to correct the problem. Once that was figured out, my uptime with Rackspace was 100%.

Pricing

Rackspace cloud hosting starts at 1.5 cents per hour. The higher the amount of traffic you log, the higher your bill will climb. In comparison with other cloud hosting server providers, Rackspace is on the pricy side of things. Load balancers, file storage and advanced technical support all cost extra, as well.
