Sales

I wanted to ask a few questions before signing up for a shared web hosting account. One.com allows for email and live chat support, and I turned my attention to live chat. Upon clicking the live chat icon on One.com’s website, I was immediately connected with a sales representative. No waiting, I like that. The sales team representative quickly answered my questions and spent a few moments educating me about One.com’s network located in Denmark. I was impressed with the sales representative. I was never pressured to purchase anything and was invited to return at anytime for additional information. Perfect!

Setup

My shared hosting account with One.com was paid for with a credit card. Since I’d already been told that setup could take as long as 24 hours to complete, I was prepared for the one day wait that followed before I received my hosting information. One.com’s email letter welcoming me to their company was pleasant and thorough, giving me all the information I needed to get my website online that day.

Billing

My web hosting account was paid for one year in advance, as required by One.com. I never had any trouble with my original bill and was not overcharged or forced to pay for services I had not ordered. However, eleven months into my stay with One.com I was billed for another year of service, even though I hadn’t signed on for the following year. I immediately contacted support via live chat, where it was explained to me that this was standard. I was told that I could cancel my account, but must do so within 35 days of the contract ending. Since that date had already gone by, I was forced to stay with One.com or lose the year of hosting I’d already paid for.

Pricing

One.com’s shared web hosting packages are rock bottom cheap.  The smallest plan affords users 3 gigabytes of space and an unlimited amount of bandwidth for only $1.45/month.  Those prices are some of the lowest in the hosting business today. 

Along with buying a web hosting package, it is mandatory that users either purchase a new domain name through One.com or transfer an existing domain name to them.  One.com also charges a setup fee of $13.89 per account.  Taking into account all the added charges, One.com’s actual pricing structure is about average.

Reliability

I was with One.com for nearly two years and never once experienced any hardware failure or network trouble.

Support

One.com has support channels via standard email and live chat. I found all support staff to be well schooled and efficient. Live chat support is the fastest and almost instantaneous. Email support times can take as little as 45 minutes or as long as 24 hours.

Uptime

I have a premium monitoring tool in place that I use to track the uptime of my websites. Not once in almost two years did One.com dip below their 99.99% uptime guarantee. I found One.com’s network to be extremely reliable.

Absolutely awful host, could not connect via Ftp or via File Manager. I was told it was a problem with my PC but after a complete format, still nothing worked. The customer service is terrible, and they refuse to acknowledge the problem was on their end.

Trust me, this is one of the most bastard company you will ever deal with. Customer service don't know there own policies, they are absolutely rude, I wish I had the option to shut this company down.

When I look through reviews from some hosting reviews sites a lot of issues comes up, that have never happened to me. I have a couple of domains (4 to be exact) on one.com - And have never had any problems. Support (chat-support) is friendly and fast. Stable up-time (almost never downtime). And so on. A lot of the complaints is regarding canceling a domain. Have just canceled a domain for the first time. Read the Faq on this. It was extremely easy - contacted the chat-support (as one of the canceling-options mentioned in the Faq) - and they sent me a link to my email-address. Clicked the link, entered password. And bingo - my domain was canceled, without any problems. In short; non of the problems in the negative reviews happened to me!
