Omnis Network, LLC was formed in 1999 by a team of proven web services industry veterans with the simple goal of providing affordable, enterprise class web services. Initially, Omnis Network provided web hosting and domain registration services. We have since expanded to offer a full array of web services to both individual and professional clients. Omnis Network, LLC is an ICANN accreddited registrar.

Omnis Network maintains a datacenter in Torrance, California with network connections managed through One Wilshire in Los Angeles, California. One Wilshire is the undisputed main hub of the internet for the entire Pacific Rim. It is easily the most connected building on the west coast of the United States. Omnis takes sales questions by phone, email and live chat. I had a few questions about the Omnis money back guarantee, and took those queries to live chat. The representative I spoke with answered my questions thoroughly and quickly, and referred me to a section of their website where I could learn more about their network. Great sales department!

Setup

I purchase a Linux hosting plan with Omnis, and within a few moments of paying I had a receipt of payment in my email inbox. It took considerably longer, however, to get my account set up information. Apparently there was some difficulty with verifying my credit card and address, so my new account information was not made available to me until about 24 hours after the sale. In their defence, the Omnis support representatives explained the problem to me immediately and even called to give me an ETA on setup.

Omnis accepts all major credit cards, PayPal, checks and money orders. I paid for my account with PayPal and saw no discrepancies on my bill after paying or following the cancellation of my account one year later.

Pricing

Omnis offers both Linux and Windows cloud hosting and at first glance, the prices appear to be quite the deal. The advertised price of an unlimited hosting package is $5.95 a month. What Omnis doesn’t advertise though, is that in order to secure that price, you must pay two years in advance. The actual price of hosting is $8.95 a month—and even then you must pay three months in advance to get that deal. That price tag isn’t too outside the realm of normal, but the dishonest advertising didn’t sit well with us. And the same goes for the offer a free domain name; it’s not really free unless you pay two years ahead of schedule.

Reliability

I stayed with Omnis for a period of one year. During that time, I found Omnis hardware to be dependable, with no failures of any kind to report. There were brief periods where my email address did not function as it should, but those were short-lived and resolved quickly.

For the most part, Omnis support was excellent. I reached out on several occasions to phone, email and live chat support teams. It takes just a few seconds to connect with a live chat representative and about ten minutes to get to an actual person by phone. Where Omnis falls short is with their email correspondence. There were three times in particular where one of my questions either went completely unanswered or where support took more than 24 hours to get back to me.

I have a premium uptime monitor attached to my domain names so that I can easily see how reliable networks are. The Omnis Network was impressive overall. I had two experiences of extended downtime with Omnis. The first lasted less than fifteen minutes and the second dragged on until the 45 minute mark.
